|
| The amount by which a bid must be raised in order for it to be accepted in an auction-style listing. The bid increment is automatically determined based on the current high bid amount. |
 |
|
Here is an example:
An auction listing which starts with a bid amount
of Re.1 and has a bid increment set of Rs. 25.00
When the auction begins, each bid will be increase by Rs.25.00 as indicated below: |
Re.1.00 -
Rs.26.00
Rs.51.00
Rs.76.00
Rs.101.00
Rs.126.00
Rs.151.00 |
Starting bid amount
(1 + 25 =26)
(26 + 25 =51)
(51 + 25 =76)
(76 + 25 =101)
(101 + 25 =126)
(126 + 25 =151) and onwards... |
|
| |
| The first bid increases by the by minimum bid amount (Re.1.00) and subsequently by the minimum bid increment amount (Rs. 25.00). It is not mandatory that you bid amount exactly. you may bid higher if you wish considering you are placing your maximum bid. |
| |
| Please Note: |
| A bid increment will go higher than the standard increment in two situations: |
| |
To meet the reserve amount
To beat a competing bidder's high bid
|
|
If you were bidding against another bidder's maximum bid, your bid had to meet the other bidder's maximum bid plus a bid increment to become the current high bidder on the item.
Sometimes the Bid History page for an item will show that there are 2 bids, yet there is only one bidder. This happens when a member places more then one bid to increase their maximum bid amount. |
